Bob completed Bishop Ken Untener's Lay Preacher Training Program and was commissioned as a Lay Preacher in the Diocese of Saginaw.  He preached weekend liturgies at St. Athanasius Church until Bishop Ken died in 2005 and the bishop who replaced him in early 2006 declared that lay people could no longer preach.
